A free Publisher Rocket alternative — for one job
Publisher Rocket is a good tool and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It costs $199 once (checked 5 August 2026) and it is mainly a research tool: keywords, categories and competitors, before you publish.
Ads Keyword Kit does something narrower. It builds the keyword list for your Amazon Ads campaigns — free — and then tells you every week which of those keywords are wasting money. If what you need is search volume and category data, buy Publisher Rocket. This page is for the authors who need the other thing.

What we can't do
Worth being blunt, because it will save you a click. Publisher Rocket's research features rest on Amazon marketplace data — search volumes, sales estimates, category thresholds. Amazon does not publish any of that, and gathering it is a data operation we have not built and are not claiming to have.
So: no search volume numbers, no category recommendations, no competitor sales estimates, no keywords for your book's listing. If any of those is what you came for, Publisher Rocket is the honest answer and this page has done its job.
The gap we exist to fill
Research tools hand you a keyword list and stop there. Three weeks later your campaigns are live, you have forty-odd keywords running, and nobody tells you that six of them have spent $40 without a single sale.
That is the loop we cover. You export your Amazon search term report, drop it in, and every keyword gets an automatic cut / keep / scale call measured against your own break-even — which the bid calculator works out from your list price and royalty. It takes about two minutes, once a week.
No Amazon account connection, no API access, nothing to install. You bring the report; we do the arithmetic and remember your decisions week over week.
Start with the free part
The keyword tool is genuinely free and needs no signup: paste your title and comp titles, get broad/phrase/exact variants plus real Amazon search phrases and a starter negative list, exported as a bulksheet-ready CSV. Try that before you think about paying anyone — us included.
